Conoscere la storia della protezione antincendi boschivi (AIB) è utile per comprendere le scelte tecniche e organizzative adottate in passato e per impostare correttamente le azioni da intraprendere oggi.Per questi motivi si descrivono alcune significative esperienze di organizzazione AIB e i miglioramenti progressivamente conseguiti negli ultimi 50 anni. Si evidenzia: l’evoluzione degli approcci sia di previsione ed estinzione sia di prevenzione nonché l’aumento delle conoscenze maturate con specifiche ricerche e nei corsi di laurea in scienze forestali. Si pone particolare attenzione ai Piani AIB di competenza regionale.Emerge come, anche dopo molte esperienze, alcune scelte o impostazioni siano negative. In particolare il generale prevalere dell’estinzione sulla prevenzione comporta che non si realizzino le condizioni per evitare la diffusione degli incendi. Tra essi, soprattutto quelli estremi, non sono contenibili con successo. Anche le recenti disposizioni rivolgono grande risalto all’estinzione. Si esprimono proposte correttive.
Protection from forest fires: history, current situation y and critical aspects. The history of forest fire protection (AIB) is useful to understand the technical and organizational choices made in the past and to set the proper actions to be taken today.For these reasons, we describe some significant experiences of AIB organization and the improvements achieved in the last 50 years. The evolution of the approaches to forecasting and extinction as well as to prevention. Is highlighted, as well as the importance of knowledge increasing gained through special research and in forestry science degree courses. Particular attention is given to the AIB Plans of regional competence.We point out that, even after many experiences, some choices and approaches still remain critical. In particular, the general prevalence of extinction over prevention measures means that the conditions to avoid the spread of fires are not met. Fires, especially extreme ones, cannot be successfully contained. Recent regulations also place great emphasis on extinction. Corrective proposals are expressed.
